Comparing and Judging
Comparison is an essential thing. But this is often misinterpreted. According to google the meaning of the word ‘comparison’ is “a consideration or estimate of the similarities or dissimilarities between two things or people” . Comparison is often done to judge in case of people. “He is bad at dancing” “she is not so good at listening” and so on, are often said because of this comparison with people who have gained fame and recognition. The meaning doesn’t say it is a tool to judge others. Especially students are the one who really gets affected due to this comparison. One student scores maximum marks and the others couldn’t then the teacher will be like (especially to the one(s) who scored the least) “you need to study and work like him. He is attentive, does all works on time...” and keep on praising him. What if the other did study and worked hard? What if the situations in their homes or hostels were unfavourable to study?
